On April, 20th went to watch the sun roll down Craugh Patrick. It's only happens twice a year and is considered a sacred site.
Galway was about a hour and a half bus ride from Westport. One of the first things we did was walk around the university and go to the library. Galways Library was not as jarring as Trinity but the campus was still lovely.
Westport house was a 10 minute walk from our B&B. It was the former home of greatest pirate queen to ever rule, Grace O'Malley. She's an absolute legend and the queen of England really respected her. Grace’s name in Irish is Gráinne Ní Mháille. In order to travel across the sea with her father she cut off all her hair and pretended to be a boy. Her father was very impressed and she eventually took over her father's role when he died as an active leadership of the lordship by land and sea.
In Carranamora we got to tour a sheep farm and learn about it's ancient history. We started the tour with some tea and coffee. We also got watch dog heard the sheep like the pig does in that "Babe" movie. We saw lots of baby sheep but we weren't allowed to pet them or the mothers might disown them. At the end of the tour we had more coffee and homemade scones.
This was the Irish school I was assigned at to finish my student teaching. It a very lovely school; I had such a wonderful experience! Scoil Phadraig is a rather larger school compared to most Irish schools. There are about 343 students enrolled here, while most other Irish primary schools avergage 24 students per a grade. It is not uncommon for Irish schools to only have 22-50 students total in the entire building. My school was about a 25 minute walk into town from our B&B. We started school at roughly 9 am and ended school at 2:30 pm.
