Sustainable enterprise, supporting local farmers.
Business Overview: Solomon Farms began in July 2020 as an agricultural enterprise in Brgy. Lakip, Atimonan, Quezon, transforming a coconut land into a multi-crop farm. It was registered under the Department of Agriculture on August 15, 2020.
Founders and Farm Development: Spouses Derick and Rose replaced 37 coconut trees with 200 dragon fruit poles, with permission from Rose's father, Eladio Amador. This change turned a piece of the Amador agricultural land into a high-value farming venture. They also planted long finger chili plants between the dragon fruit poles, resulting in an unexpected harvest of 200 kg in just two months, prompting them to explore food preservation.
Product Line Evolution: The initial product, Pickled Chilies, led to the development of additional pickled items, including pickled ampalaya (bitter gourd), pickled labanos (radish), and the popular "atsara" (pickled papaya). In December 2021, the food manufacturing business was registered as a sole proprietorship under the name Derickrose Food Products.
Name Origin and Future Plans: Solomon Farms is named after pioneer farmer Solomon Amador, affectionately called “Lolo Momoy” by his grandchildren. The farm integrates traditional crops like coconut and rice with new crops such as vanilla, fruit-bearing trees and houses hives of stingless bees for pollination.
Harvests from Solomon Farms and neighboring Quezon and Batangas farms are used to produce the Everything Pickled series, Sauce-sawan (condiment brand), and honey products. The goal is to export these brands, introduce modern farming techniques, and provide livelihoods for residents of Brgy. Lakip, Atimonan, Quezon.
