Required Permissions
CAMERA Permission :
How the Camera Enhances User Experience
Our application requires access to the camera to provide essential functionalities related to user identity verification, bank account management, and payment processing. Simplifies KYC processes by enabling direct image capture. Reduces manual efforts by providing seamless document upload for bank and payment functionalities. Ensures a faster, more efficient workflow for users managing financial tasks. by granting the camera permission, users can fully utilize these features, which are critical for delivering a secure, user-friendly, and efficient experience.
Below is an explanation of how and why the camera permission is used:
User KYC (Know Your Customer) Verification
The app uses the camera to capture images of government-issued ID cards, documents, and user selfies as part of the mandatory KYC process.
These images are securely uploaded to our servers and processed to verify the user's identity as per financial regulations.
Bank Whitelisting
Users can capture and upload images of necessary documents, such as account statements or bank-related identification, for associating and verifying bank accounts with our platform.
This functionality ensures that only authenticated accounts are whitelisted, improving security.
Payment Requests
Users can upload images of receipts, invoices, or other transaction-related documents to facilitate and track payment requests directly through the app.
The camera simplifies this process by enabling direct image capture without requiring third-party tools.
INTERNET Permission :
The INTERNET permission is necessary for enabling any functionality in your app that relies on a connection to the internet. This includes:
Communicating with remote servers or APIs.
Downloading or uploading files (e.g., images, documents).
Displaying dynamic content from web servers.
Using third-party SDKs or services that rely on network access.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Permission :
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permission allows an Android application to monitor and check the current state of network connectivity on a device. In your fintech application, this permission is crucial for ensuring reliable and seamless user experiences, especially when handling sensitive operations like payments, KYC uploads, or bank whitelisting.
The ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permission allows the app to check the status of the network connection but does not provide the ability to perform network operations.
This permission enables your app to :
Check Network Availability :
Determine if the device has any active internet connection (Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc.).
Prevent operations that require an internet connection from proceeding if no network is available.
Identify Network Type :
Detect whether the device is connected via Wi-Fi, cellular data, or other network types.
Optimize operations (e.g., defer large uploads to when the user is on Wi-Fi).
Improve User Experience :
Display appropriate messages like "No internet connection" when offline.
Gracefully handle network disruptions during critical operations.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE Permission:
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE permission allows your Android application to access information about the current Wi-Fi connection, including whether Wi-Fi is enabled, the state of the Wi-Fi network, and details about the connected Wi-Fi access point.
Our app accesses Wi-Fi state information to optimize network usage during sensitive operations like financial transactions and document uploads. This ensures faster, more reliable service and helps users avoid excessive mobile data usage.
The ACCESS_WIFI_STATE permission is used to :
Check Wi-Fi Connectivity :
Determine if the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Check the status of the Wi-Fi connection (e.g., connected, disconnected, or connecting).
Optimize Network Usage :
Identify whether the user is on a Wi-Fi network to decide if large data operations, like file uploads or downloads, should proceed.
Delay or prioritize specific network operations depending on the type of connection.
Enhance User Experience :
Display relevant messages to users (e.g., "No Internet Connection").
Improve reliability for tasks that require stable connectivity, such as financial transactions or document uploads.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Permission :
Android 9 (API Level 28) and below, apps still need WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE to access external storage. This permission allows users to upload images of documents for secure identity verification as part of the KYC process, which is a core feature of the app.
The WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission is required by this app to allow users to upload documents and photos from their device storage for the Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process. The app allows users to select images of documents (e.g., ID cards, bank statements, utility bills) stored on their device, which are then securely uploaded to the app's servers for verification purposes. This permission is essential for the functionality of the app, as it enables users to provide the necessary documents for identity verification and bank whitelisting, which are critical features of the fintech service.
KYC Verification : To securely save and manage identity and financial documents (e.g., Aadhaar, bank statements) that users upload from their device. This ensures that documents are stored safely for processing and regulatory compliance.
Transaction Records : To save payment receipts or transaction-related documents locally, providing users with access to their financial history in offline mode.
Downloadable Shop Certificates : To enable users to download and save generated shop certificates in PDF format. These certificates are important for business verification and can be stored on the device for easy access and future reference.
The app accesses the device’s storage to enable document selection and upload for KYC purposes. Once a document is selected, the app writes it to the app's internal storage or uploads it to a remote server for verification. The documents are processed securely, and no unnecessary data is stored on the user's device.
This app adheres to all privacy and security regulations concerning personal data. User data is only used for the specified purposes of identity verification, and the app does not share, misuse, or store user data without consent.
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES Permission :
Android 13 (API Level 33) and above, Scoped Storage limits an app’s access to the device’s media storage to ensure better privacy for users. READ_MEDIA_IMAGES is a specific permission granted to apps that need to access images. Android 13 or higher will need to request this permission instead of WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, which were used in earlier versions.
The READ_MEDIA_IMAGES permission is required by this app to allow users to select and upload images (e.g., ID cards, bank statements, and other verification documents) from their device’s gallery for Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. The app needs to access the gallery or other media storage locations to allow users to upload necessary documents for identity verification.
KYC Verification : To allow users to select and upload identity documents (e.g., passport, driver’s license) or photos for verification purposes directly from their device gallery. This is a critical part of the KYC process.
Payment Receipts and Documents : To access images of payment receipts, transaction records, or documents saved in the device’s media storage, facilitating the secure submission of necessary files for financial processing.
The app uses the READ_MEDIA_IMAGES permission to access images from the device’s media storage (e.g., gallery) that the user selects for uploading. Once the image is selected, the document is uploaded to the backend server for secure identity verification. The app does not store or misuse the data, ensuring that the privacy and security of user data are maintained.
The app complies with privacy regulations and Google Play policies, ensuring that user data is securely processed and used solely for the purpose of KYC verification. The app does not store images on the device beyond the upload process.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Permission :
The POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission allows your app to send push notifications to users, which is critical for keeping them updated on important activities related to their financial transactions, account status, or other time-sensitive events within the app.
Real-time updates : For any fintech app, delivering timely updates to the user is essential. Transaction alerts, balance updates, and KYC status notifications help users stay informed and take immediate action if necessary (e.g., confirming a transaction or completing a verification).
Regulatory compliance : In certain regions, financial services are required to notify users of specific actions or updates related to their accounts for regulatory purposes, such as confirming transfers, changes in account details, or alerting users of suspicious activities.
Report Generation Notification : Stay informed when your report is ready or when updates are made.
Payment Request Notification : Receive alerts when a payment request is sent or processed.
Document Upload Status : Get notified when your document upload is successful or needs attention.
Process Updates : Keep track of the status of any ongoing process, ensuring you’re aware of any required actions or progress.
By enabling notifications, you'll be kept updated on each of these steps, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
