We weren’t born into business. We built it — just like you’re doing.
Before we ever filed a tax return for someone else, we were doing it for ourselves…
lost in the system, unsure what to do, and trying to keep up.

🧱 Humble Beginnings

I started where many Kiwis do —
retail jobs, odd shifts, casual hours, chasing anything that paid the bills.

Then came the side hustles:
Uber driving, lawn mowing, part-time gigs.
Real work. Honest income.
But no idea how to handle the tax side.

I remember:

• Paying a tax agent who didn’t explain anything

• Receiving IRD letters I didn’t understand

• Missing deductions that cost me money

And thinking:

"Why is this so hard for people like us?"

💡 That’s How the Name Was Born

We chose the name Sole Trader Taxation Limited for a reason.

We saw too many hardworking sole traders putting in long hours, only to fall into debt, liquidation, or even bankruptcy — not because of bad business, but because they had bad tax advice or none at all.

We started this business to change that.

While working and hustling, I studied accounting at night.
Eventually, I earned roles at some of the world’s largest accounting firms — the kind with thousands of staff and clients around the globe.

And while I learned a lot…

I knew I wasn’t meant to serve boardrooms.
I was meant to serve people like me — and people like you.
