Road Map

This page details the potential timeline for future development.  No guarantee is given as to whether any of the features detailed on this page will actually be implemented in future versions.

Version 1 (in beta testing)

• ✅ Allow cities with a population of 500,000 or over to be selected from a list

• ✅ Allow cities to be grouped by country.

• ✅ Display city/country name, solar time, and local time.

• ✅ Allow for the city/country name, solar time, and local time to be displayed or not displayed.

• ✅ Display Earth, Sun, Moon at correct location for the current time.

• ✅ Allow for the Earth, Sun, and Moon to be displayed or not displayed.

• ✅ Allow for animated clouds to be added to the 3D model.

• ✅ Add analogue clock face and clock hands for both Solar time and local time.

• ✅ Add a location marker to denote the current location on the Earth.

• ✅ Allow for the primary time to be changed between Solar time and local time.

• ✅ Allow for the display to be kept on permanently.

• ✅ Add a resolution setting for the 3D model for devices with less performance.

• ✅ Add a dark theme setting.

Beta testing issues

• ✅ feature - Use em units for digital clock text and allow text to be resized to support different devices.

• ✅ feature - Change default resolution from 'High' to 'Medium'

• ✅ bug - Animate clouds option not disabled if Earth model is deselected.

• ✅ bug - Texture bump map for Earth model is too extreme.

• ✅ bug - OOM due to texture maps being too large.

• ✅ perf - Performance enhancements - only render 3D models when absolutely necessary

• ✅ bug - 3D model flickers when zoomed in.

• ✅ feature - Limit number of cities to three (3), due to limited resources on mobile devices causing lmkd to intervene on Android and Jetsam on iOS.

• ✅ bug - web links in the about page should open in external browser

• bug - active page not remembered on orientation change

Version 2

• Change layout to have all locations displayed on one globe instead of a page for each location.

• Add stars skybox

Version 3

• Add home screen widget

• Add support for home screen and lock screen "live" wallpaper.

• Add support for wearable devices.

Version 4

• Make the cities list searchable.

• Add support for more cities (with populations less that 500,000 people)

• Allow for custom latitude and longitude values to be specified.

• Add button to reset camera to default position.

• Save current camera position and restore when app is reloaded.

• Move 3D model to the centre of the screen if digital clock is not visible.

Version 5

• Add support for a celestial globe.

Version 6

• Speak time on load/tap.

• Add option to change default camera angle to look:

  • from the Sun

  • from side on (East/West)

  • from North/South pole

  • from the Moon

• Add option to show orbit path of the Earth and of the Moon.

Version 7

• Add detailed lunar eclipses.

• Add detailed solar eclipses.

Version 8

• Allow for custom times to be specified

• Add animation of time (backwards and forwards)
