The Rio Vista Boater Outreach Program was an environmental education effort targeting recreational boaters and boat owners visiting the lower Sacramento River region. The Sacramento River is a popular fishing, swimming, and boating destination as well an important water supply for many cities in Solano County, so protecting it from motor oil and gasoline pollution is a stakeholder priority. In addition to oil and gasoline pollution, the river is also at risk for contamination by trash debris (including monofilament fishing line), illegally discharged boat sewage, and invasive plant and/or animal species.
The program concluded in summer of 2025 with two visits to both the Delta Marina and Sandy Beach County Park to restock free sustainable boating supplies and connect with boaters and recreators. Updates from these visits are available below as well as the summative program report and weekly summaries for previous years at the bottom of the page.
