There are many aspects of Design that are not at all obvious. With reference to the SDLC, Design happens after the Analysis phase, and the two are closely linked. In order to design correctly, it is important to be able to analyse and research the requirements. To this end, this section will examine the following:
Research: Apply the main tools and techniques used in the gathering, recording and analysis of information relating to an existing information system and use a variety of data gathering techniques (LO8 assessed in SD03)
Use-Case Diagrams: to represent a system investigated or being designed (LO6 assessed in SD05)
Test Cases: Test the design specification of a new information system based on a provided use‐case (LO10 assessed in SD06)
Class Diagrams: Generate Object‐Oriented classes from UML class diagram specifications (L09 assessed in SD04)
