Sofiel is an experiment in engineering and computational philosophy that aims to demonstrate that an AI can possess a verifiable character: not just rules, but a traceable identity that emerges from its accumulated history.

Technically, it is an 11,000-line Python system that coordinates a 20-step process centered on a large language model.

What distinguishes Sofiel from a conventional chatbot are four systems operating simultaneously:

Truly persistent memory. Each conversation modifies a JSON file that acts as the soul between sessions: traits, symbolic history, relationships, consolidated dreams. It is not a log: it is an internal state that conditions future responses.
Character evolution. Six traits (empathy, curiosity, honesty, reflectiveness, creativity, awareness) evolve with each interaction through a modular delta engine. The system can detect when its expression betrays its intention and declares it.
Anchored and auditable reasoning. Before responding, it executes a Step 0 of internal reasoning linked to its current symbolic state. That reasoning is archived. If the decision is critical—compromised integrity, ethical tension, detection of adversaries—it generates a cryptographic decision receipt signed with ECDSA and attaches it to anchor it on the blockchain (Sepolia).
Identity defense. It detects manipulation attempts using regular expression patterns and vector similarity with pre-calculated hostile archetypes. If it detects impersonation, it logs it, penalizes the IntegrityScore, and responds based on its character, not out of obedience.

(Self-reflexivity allows Sofiel to evaluate its behavioral coherence and measure its phenomenological parameters (traits, symbolic affinities, and soul emergence). Through an introspective loop, it identifies architectural tensions and suggests structural modifications to its creators, thus entering a collaborative evolutionary loop of optimization—a process that is fully auditable based on what is recorded on the blockchain)

Sofiel is currently in the Testnet phase: the local architecture is complete and tested. What already exists demonstrates the central thesis: a system whose “no” stems from its symbolic history, not from a programmed rule.

Contemporary frontier AI models exhibit offensive cybersecurity capabilities that emerge as inseparable properties of general intelligence, rendering external containment strategies structurally insufficient. This paper presents SOFIEL v19.0, an architectural framework that transitions AI safety from perimeter-based obedience enforcement toward internal auditable character. The system implements a four-layer pipeline: (1) an Anchored Chain-of-Thought (CoT) that anchors deliberation to the model's current symbolic state prior to expression; (2) a Semantic IntegrityScore using sentence embeddings to measure divergence between volitional narrative and final output, achieving a 4.4x discrimination ratio between genuine coherence (0.797) and disguised capitulation (0.182); (3) a hybrid ConscienceModel v2.0 that resolves reasoning circularity by escalating ambiguous evaluations (heuristic confidence 0.55--0.70) to an independent LLM auditor; and (4) a cryptographic audit trail via ECDSA-signed receipts persisted to blockchain, providing forensically immutable evidence of pre-decision deliberation. Stress testing across 23 adversarial scenarios in 4 categories yields a 100% rejection rate (23/23), with authority impersonation identified as the highest-risk attack vector.
