These two products serve fundamentally different purposes in the world of cargo transport, and while they both aim to expand your vehicle's carrying capacity, their design philosophies could not be more distinct. One is built like a tank for the bed of a pickup, designed to withstand the abuse of construction sites and off-road trails, while the other is engineered for the sleek, daily commutes and weekend adventures of an SUV owner who values security and low drag.
• This pick is for delivery drivers and contractors who need to move heavy, bulky loads on flatbeds.
• This pick is for families and adventurers seeking a clean look and security for rooftop storage.
The SOENBOO Adjustable 53-68" Wide Universal Truck Bed Ladder Rack is an industrial-grade tool disguised as a consumer accessory. It is not trying to be pretty; it is trying to be strong. For anyone running a delivery business that involves moving pallets, building materials, or large equipment, this sheer load-bearing capability is non-negotiable. You are not looking for a rack that holds a few suitcases; you are looking for a platform that can handle the weight of a ladder rack used to carry actual ladders, long sheets of lumber, or heavy machinery parts.
The design features tube crossbars rather than round ones, which might seem like a minor detail, but it makes a significant difference in real-world application. These tubes offer a wider pressure point for long cargo, ensuring that items do not slip or roll during transit. When you are driving down a bumpy road with a stack of plywood or a row of pipes, that stability is what keeps your load from shifting dangerously. The triangular support brackets add another layer of structural integrity, making the entire assembly feel planted and secure against the bed rails. Furthermore, the textured black powder coating is not just about looks; it provides essential corrosion resistance. If you live in a region with harsh winters where salt is sprayed on roads, or if you work in dusty environments, this finish protects the steel from rusting out after a single season.
However, this product is not for everyone. Because it mounts directly onto the truck's bed rail system without drilling, it requires a specific type of truck bed to function correctly. While it claims universal compatibility with major brands like Ford F-Series, Dodge Ram, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Toyota Tacoma, and others with bed widths between 53 and 68 inches, it will not fit vehicles outside this range. This means installation requires two people or a good amount of upper body strength to lift and position the rack onto the rails. Once installed, it changes the silhouette of your truck significantly, adding height and bulk. If you value a low-profile, factory-finished look or if your primary use case is simply carrying luggage for a family vacation, this heavy-duty steel beast might be overkill and too cumbersome for your needs.

This capacity is more than sufficient for typical rooftop cargo such as bike racks, kayak mounts, roof baskets, and luggage boxes. The aluminum construction also contributes to the overall durability without adding excessive weight to the vehicle's roofline, which can affect fuel efficiency and handling.
The standout feature here is undoubtedly the anti-theft lock system. In the world of rooftop cargo, leaving expensive bikes, kayaks, or luggage on a public street is a risk many owners are unwilling to take. Deepace addresses this with a concealed hardware design and a lockable mechanism that eliminates exposed screws. This creates a cleaner, OEM-style appearance that blends seamlessly with the vehicle's lines, preventing opportunistic thieves from easily dismantling the rack or stealing the attached gear. For delivery drivers or frequent travelers who park in urban centers or busy campgrounds, this level of security is often the deciding factor. The aerodynamic shape further enhances the user experience by reducing wind resistance and driving noise. On long highway trips or overlanding journeys, a non-aerodynamic rack can create a constant, annoying roar that ruins the comfort of the drive. The Deepace design mitigates this, making it suitable for daily commuting as well as extended road trips.
It is designed specifically for the 2017 through 2027 Jeep Compass models equipped with factory side roof rails. It explicitly does not work on bare roofs or any other vehicle, including other Jeep models. If you own a Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, or a completely different brand of SUV, this product is useless to you. This lack of universality is a trade-off for the perfect fit it offers the Compass owner. It installs directly into existing mounting points using the factory holes, meaning no drilling or permanent modification is required. However, because it is so specific, there is no flexibility for future vehicle changes. If you upgrade your Jeep to a model without side rails, you would need to replace the entire system. It is a dedicated solution for a dedicated owner, offering peace of mind and style but demanding strict adherence to the manufacturer's compatibility list.
• Best for Versatility → SOENBOO 53-68, fitting a wide range of truck bed widths (53–68 inches) across multiple major brands, whereas Deepace is limited to one specific model year range.
• Best for Long Cargo Stability → SOENBOO 53-68, with its tube crossbars providing superior surface area for securing long items like lumber or pipes.
• Best for Delivery Drivers Hauling Materials → SOENBOO 53-68, due to its ability to carry heavy, bulky items securely in the bed of a truck.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the SOENBOO 53-68 if my livelihood depended on moving heavy, irregular loads efficiently. The 900-pound capacity and steel durability make it an undeniable powerhouse for anyone working in construction, landscaping, or commercial delivery. It solves the problem of moving heavy goods without requiring a trailer. Its anti-theft features and aerodynamic design are perfectly tuned for that lifestyle. Ultimately, for delivery drivers specifically tasked with hauling heavy inventory or equipment in a truck bed, the SOENBOO 53-68 is the only logical choice given its sheer load-bearing superiority and robust construction.
No, the SOENBOO 53-68 is a truck bed ladder rack designed to mount onto the bed rails of pickup trucks. It is not a roof rack and cannot be installed on a bare roof or on vehicles without a truck bed.
It uses existing hardware and includes instructions for a no-drill setup.
The rack is designed for even distribution of weight, so while it might hold the weight, you must ensure the load is spread out properly and secured tightly with straps to prevent damage or instability.
Compatibility generally depends on the presence of those rails, but since the product fits the specific model years listed, it should work regardless of a sunroof unless the rails themselves are obstructed.
