The recital is a professionally directed performance that allows our SOD dreamers to present to their families and friends the results of a year of hard work, dedication, and progress. The recital is an annual rite of passage and a performance opportunity that all dancers look forward to. Also, a big part of the dance training process includes learning through performance. The experience helps build self-esteem and confidence in dancers. Participating in recitals and dress rehearsals helps dancers develop retention skills, teamwork, and adaptability.
Beginning in February, each teacher creates customized, age-appropriate choreography for each class. After 4 months of practice during class time, the performances culminate as each class showcases their routine wearing a special costume, tights, dance shoes, and makeup on stage. Your attendance and applause at the end of each piece is the reward dancers receive for months of effort and the dreamers walk off the stage feeling satisfied about a job well done.
We’ve created this site in an effort to clarify what is required in terms of commitments and responsibility, in order to make the recital a great experience for your dreamer! We are going to have a GREAT show and we look forward to sharing it with you!
