The Adopt-A-School Program is the national partnership program of the Department of Education which engages stakeholders and partners from different public and private sectors, including international partners. It is one mechanism of the department to fill- in the gaps in resources of the schools in the Philippines.
The ASP was institutionalized through the Republic Act No. 8525 or the Adopt-A-School Program Act of 1998. The program also provide tax incentives of up to 150%, to private donors. This is one of the key features of the program to encourage private partners to come to school and extend their support.
The Brigada Eskwela is a yearly activity of the department to prepare the schools for the incoming opening of classes. It is dubbed the National Schools Maintenance Week.
During the Brigada Eskwela, community members, partners, and stakeholders come together to school and show the spirit of Bayanihan by doing works such as cleaning of the school area, repairing school facilities, repainting of school buildings and other facilities.
The Project SHINES is a division-initiated project that aims to help indigent learners and disadvantaged learners in terms of technology- support to continue their education under the new normal learning.
SHINES is an acronym for School Helping Indigent Learners for Education Support. It consists of four components where partners can choose from to fit their resources.
Some of the expected donations for this project are used but still functional ICT devices and gadgets such as desktop computer, laptop, cell phone, tablet computer, wifi modem, prepaid load, free wifi connection, flash drives, headset, webcam among others.
The Ugnayan SaBayan is a collaborative and collective effort consisting of several Division-based and adapted programs, projects, and activities from the National Level such as the Adopt-A-School Program and Brigada Eskwela. The idea is a multi-modal implementation of different programs, projects, and activities which consists of:
Conduct skills training for ALS, SPED, PTA, utility workers/ staff, either for livelihood or provision of quality services in schools and different offices
Conduct capacity building training for partnership focal persons to intensify competencies in partnership building activities amid the pandemic
Advocate health and wellness program through collaboration with the CID, DRRM, and SNHU with the integration of support generation for needed resources of the different programs, projects, and activities of the division
Intensify partnership building strategy through the conduct of Local Stakeholders Convergence and Parent-Teacher Association Forum to increase awareness and collaboration for education
Recognize partners through the conduct of Year-End Partners Congress and report to the community the accomplishment for the year
