ヒト皮膚から放散される生体ガスは「皮膚ガス」と呼ばれ、体のにおいの原因になります。皮膚ガスは極微量な揮発性有機・無機化合物から構成され、測定技術の進展により、その実態が明らかになってきました。皮膚ガスの種類・放散量は、ヒトの身体的・生理的・精神的状態、疾病の有無、生活環境や行為によって変化します。皮膚ガスの研究は、体臭の発生メカニズムの理解に寄与するほか、非侵襲・非観血的なバイオマーカーとして無限の可能性を秘めており、皮膚ガスを生体情報として活用することにより、新たな産業創出とイノベーションが期待されています。今般、皮膚ガス科学に関する初のプラットフォームとして「皮膚ガス研究会」を発足しました。会員相互の協力を通じて、皮膚ガスに関する研究開発の促進、皮膚ガスを用いた産業応用の活性化およびオープン・イノベーションの推進を図って参ります。新しい科学の扉を共に開いていきましょう。

Greetings

Human skin gas is a complex mixture of trace amounts of inorganic and organic volatile compounds released from the skin surface, and it plays a key role in body odor. Recent advances in measurement technology have illuminated its nature, revealing that an individual skin gas profile is influenced by physical, physiological, and psychological conditions, as well as the presence of illness, environmental factors, and daily activities. Research on skin gas not only enhances our understanding of the mechanisms behind body odor but also holds vast potential as a non-invasive and bloodless biomarker. Utilizing skin gas as biological information is expected to drive the creation of new industries and foster innovation. The "Society for Skin Gas Science (SSGS)" has now been established as the first platform dedicated to the field of skin gas science. Through mutual cooperation among members, the society aims to promote research and development related to skin gas, stimulate industrial applications, and advance open innovation. Together, let us open the door to new scientific horizons!
