After our picnic in the Annala garden we decided to arrange a second picnic for the summer. We got dressed in our 18th century outfits and enjoyed a sunny and warm weather in Suomenlinna, Helsinki. We set up the picnic in the shade of the trees near the Great Courtyard of Susisaari.
We also visited the commandant's house aka the Ehrensvärd museum, named after the founder of Suomenlinna sea fortress, Augustin Ehrensvärd, whose official residence the house was. The house was built in the 1750s and the interiors of the museum are furnished in 18th century style.
In the museum we enjoyed looking at paintings, portraits scale models from the period and took photos, as one simply can't pass up a chance to take photos in authentic surroundings.
We also enjoyed a more or less period correct picnic lunch. In the photo below you can see crab pasties made after Cajsa Warg's recipe from the 1750s. We also entertained ourselves and the tourists of Suomenlinna by dancing according to mademoiselle Gerbaulet's instructions.
