Over the past three years, our group Société Helsinki - The gentlefolks and fine citizens of Helsinki have actively organized several events and other activities for the common amusement. In order to facilitate activities and cooperation, we are now established as an offial registered society in Finland. We warmly welcome anyone interested to join as a member!
What does the society do?
The society organizes similar activities and events as before. Anyone can volunteer to participate and help. You can read more about us here and learn about our past and upcoming events here.
Why is an official registered society status necessary?
The official society status helps us to establish ourselves as a credible society. Cooperation with museums, cultural organizations and other communities will be easier. As a registered society we have the opportunity to apply for facilities or financial support from the city in the form of grants.
As a registered society we can obtain joint insurance for events.
What is important in establishing ourselves as a registered society is that the responsibility over activities and events is shared.
Why would I join the society?
By becoming a member you support our society above anything else, which enables us to organize events and activities more regularly and on a broader and more diverse spectrum! We can accomplish so much more when we're pulling together. All of this provides the society with more security, continuity and resources.
You can participate in the activities of the society and become a member even if you live further away or without having yet participated in any of our events before. Our members come from all over Finland, mainly from the southern parts of the country, where our activities are concentrated. As a member of the society, you can influence the content of our activities, introduce your hopes and ideas for events to us and meet new people with similar interests as yours!
What are the benefits of a membership for me?
The membership brings you certain benefits, such as:
You'll be among the first to hear about upcoming events and about our plans for future.
You'll have the opportunity to secure a place at our events in advance. Registration for our events will only be open to our members at first, before opening to the rest of the public!
You will have the opportunity to be invited to events that are only exclusive to members. These include smaller museum events or special gatherings with a more limited number of participants, for example.
You can benefit from member discounts on events.
You can get discounts at our partners' online stores that currently include Nehelenia Patterns and The Historical Fabrics Store.
We will announce any additional benefits in the future!
How much does a membership cost?
The membership fee for one person is 20 € per year. The fee for a family, covering you and your spouse as well as all your underage children, is 30 € per year.
