Socialville Baptist Church

Through the Years

1960’s

Organization:

The Socialville Baptist Church organized on May 9, 1962, with the incorporation taking place on June 9, 1962. The current property at Socialville-Foster Road was purchased and the church started in the building of what was the Flexography Corporation which dated back to the 1840’s. The church secured a loan of $6300.00 for the property and a construction loan of $3000.00.

The first Pastor called to serve was Bro. Howard Carter in September, 1962. The Church’s first dedication service was held in March 24, 1963. Bro. Don Jones of the Goshen Baptist Church brought the message and also held the first revival at this time.

The first Missionaries supported were Bill Jackson, James Dearmore, Harold Lewis, James Nelson, and Eddie Atkinson.
