Course Syllabus
Learning goal: to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become informed, responsible, and actively engaged participants in a democratic society.
Materials Needed for This Course:
● Spiral Notebook
● Pencils
● Folder
● Laptop
● Highlighter
Grading:
Summative Assessments: 60% (Tests and quizzes)
Formative Assessments: 20% (quick quizzes, bell ringers, exit tickets etc.)
Classwork: 10% (handouts, notes, participation etc.)
Homework: 10%
Classroom Expectations:
● Be on time for class and be prepared
● Respect everyone (this includes your peers)
● Make safe choices and report any safety concerns
● Use devices for only school appropriate activities
● Ask questions and communicate
● Complete classwork and assignments on time
Class Policies:
· Students will have up to 3 days to turn in late work.
1 Day Late: Highest mark 90%
2 Days Late: Highest mark 80%
3 Days Late: Highest mark 70%
· After three days, no late work will be accepted. This means the student will receive a “zero” for that assignment.
· Extensions are given depending on reason and clear communication which should be 24 hours before the deadline.
· Make-up work is accepted but student only get the same number of days they were absent to turn in make-up work. After that student is subjected to the late work policy.
TEST AND QUIZZES are available to be scheduled within 5 days failure to do so will result in a “zero”.
