This story by Linda Heller in 1982 was republished with new illustrations by Boris Kulikov in 2007.  The 2010 film adaptation is available via Tumble Books subscription.  In this heartwarming story, Julie's grandfather has a tendency to weave his stories of the past into elaborate tall tales.  Julie's grandmother insists he tell the truth to Julie about their journey as immigrants from Russia to America.  This sweet and sentimental story is perfect for all ages.
