If you wish to submit an Abstract for a poster and potential talk, please use this form:
We welcome Abstracts on any topic relating to research on technology-mediated social experiences for young people. This might include social media, AI or gaming technologies. Posters can present empirical findings, new methods or theory and meta-science. We will consider Abstracts for projects at any stage, from project plans to results presentations. We particularly welcome future-facing submissions, either those applying new methods or confronting newly emerging technologies.
During submission, you will be asked to categorise your Abstract into one of the following topics:
Effects of technology on users and society: Research examining how novel social technologies (including social media, AI or gaming) affect users and society, particularly regarding young people.
Emerging methods: Research developing new methods, or applying methods from other disciplines in a novel way, to study questions about technology-mediated social experiences.
Interventions: Clinical, societal or other interventions designed to improve use or outcomes of social technologies.
Novel uses: Research into novel uses of digital technology in social contexts.
Ethics and policy: Examinations of moral, legal and ethical ramifications in this field.
Theory and meta-science: Conceptual frameworks or meta-scientific contributions.

Abstracts should be a maximum of 2000 characters long (including spaces). Successful Abstract submissions will be invited to present a poster during a poster session, with select submissions invited to also contribute a flash talk presentation. As part of the submission form, there will also be an option to indicate that you do not wish to be considered for a flash talk presentation alongside your poster submission.
When submitting your Abstract, you will have the opportunity to apply for a Travel Grant, which consists of a waived registration fee.
If you wish to submit a proposal for a symposium, please use this form:
Symposia will be two hours long. We encourage symposia to bring together multiple speakers on an emerging theme relating to technology-mediated social experiences for young people, technology evolution, new methods or other relevant topics. We are particularly excited to invite symposia that employ interactive activities along with research talks, such as a panel discussion or brainstorming activity.
Please give as much detail as you can about the symposium plan, including names of speakers invited and confirmed, or intended to invite (we understand this may change nearer the time). There is no limit to the number of speakers or organisers for a symposium, but feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about feasibility or plans.
As part of the submission, you will be asked to submit a symposium plan, which will include the sections 'Background and Introduction', 'Aims and learning objectives', 'Session outline', 'Potential for new research directions' and 'Diversity and equity statement', as well as an optional 'Further details' section. Each section should be no more than 2000 characters long (including spaces), and can be shorter. When submitting your proposal, you will have the opportunity to apply for a Travel Grant for as many of the symposium organisers as you wish, which consists of a waived registration fee.
