Snackable Content

Snackable Content & Shareable Posts

What's "snackable" content? Bite-sized social posts that are easy to digest and even easier to share. Commonly enjoyed while waiting in line, sitting in an office, picking up a package, during a commute, and more. We can definitely relate ;)

This content is frequently consumed by users on their phone, searching for something fun, relatable, and quick to understand (read: the less text the better). It works best when it's attention grabbing, visual, and evokes emotion (like that .GIF of a tiny puppy playing piano. awww).

Note: sharing evergreen, "snackable" content is totally optional, and may not always be relevant or aligned with your page's voice or tone. If you choose to go for it, we recommend choosing items that feel contextually relevant to Waze, and won't require explanation. Think of it as a fun way to engage your audience when there isn't a product launch or specific news to share.

Hashtags

All major social channels (except LinkedIn) support the use of hashtags, which help users filter content by topics they’re interested in.

At an event like a conference or a career fair, we recommend using the official event hashtags (like #SREcon17 or #uclacareerfair) to make your content more visible among those following the hashtag.

Content Series Examples:

  • #MondayMotivation: inspirational quotes
  • #TechTuesday: anything tech-related
  • #TipTuesday: share helpful tips on using Waze
  • #TravelTuesday: get the community excited about a road trip, showing off beautiful spots they can Waze to
  • #TalkbackTuesday: ask open-ended questions of followers
  • #WorkWednesday: anything work-related
  • #TBT: Throwback Thursday
  • #FridayFun: light-hearted content
  • #FF: Follow Friday → use to encourage people to follow accounts you recommend

Memes

meme mēm

noun

an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

In Internet terms, memes are composed of funny images, videos, and pieces of texts that are copied and spread rapidly by users. They're often used to engage with followers, make a funny statement, or put some lightness into a situation. Find millions of memes here.

GIFs

A .GIF is a format for image files that supports both animated and static images. .GIFs are great for engagement and easy to share.

We like to use them to showcase product features, tell a story, or offer a sneak-peek in a relatable way.

You can find one here or create your own using multiple platforms.

Videos

Videos = king when it comes to social media content. They encourage social shares, engagements, and give life to feeds. Unfortunately, they also come at a premium, as we know video resources are limited.

When we don't have a Waze video to share, you're welcome to try your hand at taking your own (even just via smartphone) and editing it with your choice of free platform, like the Youtube Online Editor.

See examples from our Waze Facebook Page here and here.

Staying on Trend

In order to join a trending topic on social media, jump on a conversation, or offer a witty quip, it helps to be plugged in with what's happening online.

We recommend activating Google Alerts with your choice of keywords to help you stay-up-to-date on topics of choice.

You can also read blogs like Internet Brunch, Agora Pulse, Dustn and more.

Images

Image assets are, unsurprisingly, key to social media success. If you don't have time or resources to take your own photos, there are plenty of free online stock image banks you can use, such as:
