Automated robots to administer medication already exist, though not to the extent shown in the film. A recent study has found that existing automated medication systems can reduce the number of errors in administration of said medications [1]. It seems unrealistic, however, to expect these systems to be able to administer repeated doses of medicine at the request of the patient like they do in Upgrade, specifically to prevent attempted suicide.
The movie was intended to take place in a near-future society, and the smart operating table reflects this. Operating tables exist with a variety of features similar to the abilities of the smart operating table shown in the movie and are designed to make surgery easier for surgeons and safer for patients [2].
The contact lens shown to transmit information in the movie is an example of a futuristic technology in the movie. Contact lenses exist which in addition to correcting vision can perform a variety of functions such as slow down the worsening of eyesight, release antihistamines in response to allergic reaction, or magnify images [3]. It is unclear whether lenses such as the ones shown in the movie are entirely realistic, but there are very similar technologies.
