Awareness of social engineering techniques
The Idea of this website seemed simple at the start. A short advice for people slightly over the middle age, not very confident with computers or "smart devices" very often are exploited by online criminals or get not very fair treated even by legal businesses, just because of their lack of knowledge.
But... During research in the subject, although more likely to happen to older generation, it is not only them. Every one who, perhaps because lack of knowledge, lack of experience can become a victim of the online mistreatment. Whether it is illegal, malicious or just slightly bending the law we all should share the knowledge to make more difficult for "bad guys" to use us and steal from us.
It is hard when we didn't grow up witch all this technology around. In the old days when you wanted to meet someone there was a wee walk needed and whistle was enough to sort the meeting out. Now there are messengers, emails, and other stuff, hard to wrap the head around. Yes I use internet I'm quite familiar with computers, but still I'm surprised how clever scammers are and imagine when someone like me, just with a bit less knowledge can quickly can get dragged into the rabbit hole.
I started to write quick short notes trying to give some examples to just be aware. I don't have in mind to scare anyone, just share my thoughts. Just for others to be aware. I hope it'll won't put you off, I hope for totally opposite, be more confident, keep browsing, keep messengering, online can substitute temporarily our forbidden social life( written during the pandemic covid /21, lockdown). We can meet for a real tee later on. Now lets have the virtual one.
Too many popups, the print too small? Imagine, there is the reason for that. Some websites are designed in that manner. To get you annoyed and just click, to get what you get here for.
It seems like amazing offer, but wait the stock is limited. If I don't buy it just right now I'll miss this great opportunity.
