@grid_empire

"The thesis work @grid_empire is a series of sixty watercolour and pencil drawings reflecting moments in time where I am thinking about the relationship between landscape and the digital sphere, and how physical spaces can be extensions of mental space. I worked on each square intuitively, linking colour, texture, and balance to what I was experiencing in my environment and in my mind at the time. Some works are minimal while others are more complex to show the ever- changing nature of one's mindset, environment, and the complexity of the tension and in-between feeling. I have used the square format to reference the window, the pixel and by extension, Instagram. I have made sixty works laid out in a digital grid interface which allows the viewer to navigate the images freely with four directional arrow controls. For my thesis work, I have exhibited digitally given the circumstances of Covid-19 but have found that this method of exhibition allows a viewer to see the entire body of work and navigate the sixty pieces freely."
