Ensembles

Beginning Women

  • Open to everyone and anyone who would like to sing

  • All students must go through a year of Beginning Women before advancing to any other choir

  • Performance opportunities: on campus concerts each school year, eligibility for FVA Solo/Ensemble, MPA, and FMEA All-State choir

  • Students will learn:

    • Basics of vocal technique including posture, breath, and placement

    • Basic fundamentals of musicianship such as note reading, keyboard, rhythm reading, solfedge, major scales, major key signatures, and basic expressive elements

    • Vocal technique concepts are specific to the natural female vocal register

    • Basic sight-reading


Bass Harmonix

(Men's Choir)

  • Open to all men who would like to sing

  • All students must go through a year of Bass Harmonix before advancing to any other choir

  • Performance opportunities: on campus concerts each school year, eligibility for FVA Solo/Ensemble, MPA, and FMEA All-State choir

  • Students will learn:

    • Basics of vocal technique including posture, breath, and placement

Silver Sisters

(Intermediate Women's Choir)

  • Auditioned, must have passed a year of Beginning Women to be eligible for audition

  • Performance opportunities: on campus concerts each school year, eligibility for FVA Solo/Ensemble, MPA, and FMEA All-State choir

  • Students will learn:

    • Basics of vocal technique, musicianship, and sight-reading builds on that taught in Beginning Women

    • Vocal technique concepts are specific to the natural female vocal register

Vita Musica

(Advanced Mixed Choir)

  • Auditioned, must have passed a year of Beginning Women or Bass Harmonix to be eligible for audition

  • Performance opportunities: on campus concerts each school year, eligibility for FVA Solo/Ensemble, MPA, and FMEA All-State choir, community events, etc.

  • Students will learn:

    • Basics of vocal technique, musicianship, and sight-reading builds on that taught in Beginning Women and Bass Harmonix

    • Vocal technique concepts are specific to the natural female and male vocal register

Bella A Cappella

(Advanced Women's Choir)

  • Auditioned, must have passed a year of Beginning Women to be eligible for audition

  • Performance opportunities: on campus concerts each school year, eligibility for FVA Solo/Ensemble, MPA, and FMEA All-State choir, community events, etc

  • Students will learn:

    • Basics of vocal technique, musicianship, and sight-reading builds on that taught in Beginning Women and Silver Sisters

    • Vocal technique concepts are specific to the natural female vocal register
