If you want reliable, long-lasting wireless audio for active listening and hands-free calls on the go, choose SOAR NBA True; if you need a portable vinyl experience with deep bass and versatile connectivity for home or travel, choose Victrola Journey II. These two products serve completely different purposes, and picking the right one depends entirely on whether your priority is modern Bluetooth convenience or the tactile joy of playing records.
• SOAR NBA True: Offers over 10 hours of continuous playback with a lightweight in-ear design perfect for sports fans, but lacks active noise cancellation or waterproofing features. Best for elderly users who prioritize battery life and simple button controls during daily activities.
• Victrola Journey II: Delivers rich, dynamic stereo sound from a suitcase-style turntable with multiple connection options including RCA output and headphone jacks, though it requires a constant power source and is heavier to move. Best for collectors who want to digitize their vinyl collection or listen privately without disturbing others.
The SOAR NBA True Wireless Earbuds V.2 are built for people who value simplicity and endurance above all else. At their core, these earbuds utilize Bluetooth 5.0 technology to establish a stable connection with smartphones and tablets, ensuring that you never miss a beat while watching a game or listening to a podcast. The most compelling feature for anyone seeking independence from cords is the impressive battery performance. With an average life of 10 hours per charge, these earbuds can sustain a full day of music and talk time without needing to be plugged into a wall outlet. This makes them an ideal choice for elderly individuals who may not want to fiddle with frequent recharging cycles or worry about their device dying mid-conversation.
The physical design is equally practical for those who prefer minimal fuss. They sit securely in the ear as in-ear models, utilizing a dynamic driver to produce stereo sound through plastic enclosures that come in team colors. Control is handled via push buttons located directly on the earbuds, allowing users to answer or end calls, play, pause, and manage playlists without ever touching their phone. This tactile feedback is often preferred by older adults who find touch-sensitive surfaces frustrating or difficult to navigate. Furthermore, the inclusion of a built-in microphone ensures that hands-free calling is seamless, keeping you connected to family or friends while you are out and about.
However, this product is not for everyone. Additionally, there is no mention of noise control technology, meaning ambient sounds will be audible around you unless you rely on the in-ear seal alone. These earbuds are officially licensed NBA merchandise, which adds a layer of team pride but also signals that they are designed primarily for casual listening and communication rather than high-fidelity audiophile experiences. If you are looking for ipx7 waterproof wireless earbuds for elderly users who spend time outdoors in variable weather, you might find the lack of water protection a significant limitation.

The Victrola Journey II represents a different kind of freedom—one rooted in the classic ritual of playing vinyl records. This isn't just a speaker; it is a fully functional 3-speed turntable housed in a durable plastic suitcase that weighs 3.51 kg. It is designed for enthusiasts who want to play 7", 10", and 12" records up to 78 rpm, offering a belt-drive mechanism that provides a smoother, quieter operation compared to direct-drive units. The standout feature here is the "sharpest sound in a suitcase yet," achieved through upgraded stereo speakers and an integrated bass port that delivers deeper, richer audio than many portable competitors. For someone who wants to bring their record collection to a picnic, a friend's house, or simply move it easily around their home, this portability combined with serious sound quality is unmatched.
Connectivity options make this device incredibly versatile for modern households. Beyond playing physical media, it features Bluetooth input, allowing you to wirelessly stream music from your phone or tablet to the built-in speakers. But where it truly shines for diverse needs is its array of outputs. It includes a line input for external sources, an RCA output to connect to larger external speakers or amplifiers, and a dedicated headphone jack for private listening. This last feature is particularly valuable for elderly users or anyone living with roommates who enjoys late-night vinyl sessions but wants to avoid disturbing others. You can plug in headphones and enjoy the same dynamic audio experience without raising your voice or turning down the volume.
That said, the Victrola Journey II comes with specific constraints that define its user base. It is a corded electric device, meaning it must remain plugged into a power source to function; it does not have a built-in rechargeable battery like the SOAR earbuds. This limits its true "portability" to locations with accessible outlets. While the suitcase form factor makes it easy to carry to a nearby venue, you cannot take it camping or to a park without a generator or extension cord. Furthermore, it is a larger, heavier unit compared to small earbuds, requiring more space to set up. It is not designed for with mic gaming headphones for elderly users or mobile scenarios where silence and isolation are key. Instead, it is for those who appreciate the warmth of analog sound and the mechanical satisfaction of dropping a needle onto a spinning disc.
• Best for battery life and portability → SOAR NBA True, offering 10+ hours of cordless use.
• Best for private listening → Victrola Journey II, thanks to the dedicated headphone jack.
• Best for connecting to home audio systems → Victrola Journey II, with RCA output for external speakers.
• Best for team spirit and style → SOAR NBA True, featuring official NBA branding and team colors.
• Best for tactile, simple controls → SOAR NBA True, using physical push buttons instead of touch screens.
• Best for vinyl purists → Victrola Journey II, supporting 78 RPM records and belt-drive precision.
• Best for wireless streaming to speakers → Both support Bluetooth, but Victrola allows output to external devices while SOAR focuses on in-ear delivery.
• Best for active, on-the-go lifestyles → SOAR NBA True, due to its lightweight, wearable nature.
After weighing the specifications and real-world applications of both devices, I would buy the SOAR NBA True if my primary goal was finding bluetooth earbuds for elderly users who need something dependable, easy to handle, and capable of lasting through a long day. The 10-hour battery life and straightforward push-button controls address the most common frustrations older adults face with modern electronics, making it the more practical daily driver. However, if the goal is to preserve a love for vinyl or host a listening party with high-quality sound, the Victrola Journey II is the superior choice. Ultimately, for general usability and independence, the earbuds win for me.
The SOAR NBA True data sheet does not list any IPX rating or waterproof features, so they should be kept away from heavy rain or sweat to ensure longevity.
