Sarah and Özgen are both members of the CAANLab at Memorial University of Newfoundland and are both passionate about women in STEM. Here's a little bit more about us.
Dr. Sarah Sauvé is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cognitive Aging and Auditory Neuroscience Lab at Memorial University of Newfoundland. As a music scientist, Sarah researches music perception in older adults and the neural mechanisms of learning. Outside of research, Sarah is a sailor, a choir accompanist, a zero waste activist and an Argentine tango dancer.

Özgen Demirkaplan is a Ph.D. candidate in Neuroscience and a researcher in the Cognitive Aging and Auditory Neuroscience Lab at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. She completed her BA-Hons in Analytic Philosophy and M.Sc. in Cognitive Science in Ankara/Turkey. Her research interests are auditory perception and cognition as well as music training and enhancement of auditory skills. Besides research and academia, she is interested in public engagement and she is currently one of the board of directors in HappyCity St. John's, a non-profit public engagement organization, and the chair in Neighbourhood Summit 2021.
