Our research focuses on global environmental change and human-environment interactions during the late Pleistocene and the Holocene. We have carried out studies on the past climate change and prehistoric human disturbance on vegetation of coastal East Asia. Various paleolimnological proxies including pollen, diatom and stable isotopes have been used to reconstruct past environmental changes. These days, we work to understand drivers and impact of the Holocene coolings such as the Little Ice Age (LIA), the 4.2 ka event, and the 8.2 ka event, in coastal East Asia.
