Microstructure of additively manufactured AISI H13 parts shows a stark difference in microstructural evolution compared to its conventional counterparts.
Conventional AISI H13, in its quenched and tempered condition, is characterized by a lath martensitic structure along with fine secondary carbide particles, which are situated within the lath of martensite.
Incontrast, additively manufactured AISI H13 exhibits a wavy melt pool structure with a unique ultrafine cellular structure.

The copper-steel bimetallic combination was successfully demonstrated using the selective laser melting process, which involved building the SS316L part on the copper alloy.
The additively manufactured Cu-SS interface exhibits Cu- and Fe-rich regions at various length scales, ranging from macro to nanoscale.
The bimetallic interface demonstrated higher strength than the copper alloy, might be due to strong interface bonding by presence of an interconnected network of copper and steel-rich regions at different length scales

The deformation texture displayed the typical RD (//〈110〉) and ND (//〈111〉) fibers
Gradual alignment of the pearlitic colonies along the RD during cold-rolling of pearlitic steel.
Formation of fine deformed lamellae, and deformation induced fragmentation and redistribution of cementite after 95% deformation.
