What is a leap year?
What is so important about February 29th? Well, if you haven't noticed, for the past 4 years, there has not been a single February 29th! And why is that? So, you may know that there are 365 days in a year, right? Well, not exactly. NASA scientists have estimated a full year to be exactly 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds. So, as the years go by, those hours and minutes stack up. In order to keep in order with the Gregorian calendar, (The calendar we use today,) we add up those extra hours. When we add them up, it is almost the time of a full day! So, in order to keep the year 365 days, we need that extra day to help us out a bit. So then, what happens to people born ON February 29? Some might think they celebrate their birthday once every 4 years, and age 4x as slow as us. But no, they still have their birthdays on March 1. So then what might happen if a person was born on March 1? Well, I guess on that leap year, they will have to hold off one extra day!
Thank you for visiting our site! With this comes news updates. I will try to post a new story every single day, so at the bottom of this post, I will put a status update for when the next story will be posted.
Other cool things to do:
Rory Alan Snowden was born on October 11, 2011. He started writing at the young age of 6, in his kindergarten class. He loved to read books, and decided one day to make one. Even though he couldn't read yet, he could spell only simple words, so that meant he could make a book! And since that moment, it was history! About a year ago in the summer of 2021, he decided to make the first Snowden Times Newspaper, which looked a lot different then than it does today. Rory enjoys camping and goofing around in school for his hobbies.
