As with all steam locomotives, driving the 232 U requires a little instruction.
We only deal here with the "realistic" mode
At start-up :
push the 'stocker' lever all the way in
note the pressure in the boiler
release the brakes and wait for the pressure in the brake cylinders to drop to zero
push the regulator to the maximum
Gradually increase the steam supply to the cylinders by turning the Cut Off to the right (forward) or to the left (reverse)
from 20 km/h onwards, gradually push back the regulator, the level of which should be reduced to 20% (to be checked with the indicator at the bottom right of the screen)
once the desired speed is reached, reduce the Cut Off until the speed is stabilised (a little less than 30% on flat ground)
At steady speed :
constantly monitor the boiler pressure and the coal and water levels
open the water injector half way, the water level should not fall below 50% but not exceed 60%.
the coal level should be kept at its maximum
If the pressure level in the boiler drops significantly (below 1700 Kpa) :
close the water injector,
turn the Blower wheel by about half a turn: the coal consumption will then increase significantly and the pressure in the boiler will start to rise again - make sure that you "manually" feed coal into your boiler : open the fire plate, press the space bar on your keyboard several times, close the fire plate.
