Snap Vault (“the app”) respects your privacy and is designed with a local-first approach. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use the Snap Vault mobile application.
Snap Vault requests access to your device’s camera to allow you to:
Take photos of items you store in physical bins
Scan QR codes attached to bins
Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo or scan a QR code.
Snap Vault does not access your camera in the background.
Photos taken within Snap Vault:
Are stored locally on your device
Are used to help you visually identify stored items
Are never uploaded automatically to any server
Snap Vault stores the following information locally on your device:
Locations (e.g., Home, Garage)
Sections (e.g., Hallway, Kitchen)
Bins (including QR codes)
Item names, tags, descriptions, and photos
This data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to enable optional cloud-based features.
Snap Vault offers optional AI-assisted features that can:
Suggest item names
Generate tags
Create short descriptions from photos
AI features are disabled by default
You must explicitly provide your own AI API key (e.g., Google Gemini)
When enabled, photos or metadata may be sent only to the AI service you configure
Snap Vault:
Does not provide its own AI service
Does not collect or store AI API keys
Does not retain AI requests or responses on external servers
Please review the privacy policy of the AI provider you choose to use.
Snap Vault does not:
Sell your data
Share your data with third parties
Track users
Use analytics or advertising SDKs
Transmit personal data without your consent
Your data stays on your device.
