We have over 20 years of experience conducting ecological research and conservation of snakes, other reptiles, amphibians as well as their habitat features including plants. Research and conservation of snakes heavily depends on availability of resources. We regularly research conservation needs of different species, and maintain a portfolio of of project proposals that are aimed as solving a variety of problems snakes or other reptiles may face. We also open to partnerships with other organizations and individuals that may lead to fruitful snake conservation actions. We particularly value local and regional scale projects, because we believe that success in conservation of any species at a large scale relies on a multitude of local scale success stories. Examples of completed projects we are proud of being part of include "Conservation of Endangered Persian Sun-Watcher LizardL Step 1" executed in parthnership with the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, and funded by the Fund for Armenian Relief (USA) , Population and Spatial Ecology of Northern Copperhead in Massachusetts, designed and executed in partnership with Oxbow Associates Inc., and funded by National Grid.
Our operation model is simple. We use our expertise to identify target species and relevant key problems or constraints to their conservation, and prepare a study or other action plan to solve the problem, our donors contribute funding for the execution of the proposals and further research of new targets, we use our own capacity, as well as capacity of our partners as needed to execute the projects, and achieve project objectives, and research for new targets.
To keep this cyclic process going, we are kindly asking our visitors to help us with funding our operations. If you think you may care about snakes enough to support a project with a donation, here is the list of reasons to consider SCARF:
