While the trade war was a salient electoral issue in the 2020 US presidential election -- voters rewarded Trump for local protection and punished him for foreign retaliation -- the issue that really cost Trump was undermining the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)

I proposed a quantitative general equilibrium model to disentangle the interdependence between trade and technology diffusion, and how this interdependence affects world income difference. Trade-induced technology diffusion amplifies the change of income gap. In addition, initial trade liberalization smooths out technology differences so shrinking world income gap, and further trade liberalization lower income gap intesively.
