JAG DADS (Dads Are Doing Something) are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at SMS. During the day, JAG DADS may eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students but other students as well while promoting a safe and secure environment.
Principal Oglesby believes the mere presence of a JAG DADS will dramatically reduce reports of bullying and vandalism to our school. On the day of their participation, Jag DADS are given a brief review of their involvement and they wear an official JAG DADS t-shirt.
The program started during the 2021-2022 school year. It is loosely based on a similar program that is done in elementary schools.
Thank you to our inaugural year JAG DADS: Tamir Aggour, Mario Alaniz, Scott Brewster, Kyle Castille, Dante Martinez, Jeff Downs, Pierra Dubois, Richard Dyo, Ryan Nolen, Charles Sanders, Kevin Sayre, Ryan Strohl, Kamalakar Thota and Prasanna Velayudham.
