Interpreting our School's Heritage
In 2022, the University of Leicester celebrates its Centenary. As part of the celebrations, the School of Museum Studies has been working with the Archives & Special Collections to understand and document the heritage of the University. As part of this work, eleven MA Museum Studies 2021/22 students undertook a project in the context of their Heritage specialism module, to understand and re-interpret the heritage of the School. They considered how aspects of the School, and by extension the University’s, heritage might be preserved and presented using digital storytelling to a wide range of audiences. Using the Archives & Special collections to identify what has been collected and preserved to date, the students then connected with members of our alumni to capture their memories and stories about the School in oral history interviews. Working in three groups, they used this primary and secondary material to create a digital story about the School's heritage. Below you can listen to the alumni oral history interviews, and read about and explore the students' digital stories.
