SMS 8th Grade Promotion 2026
What is 8th Grade Promotion?
8th Grade Promotion is a celebration of our 8th graders as they complete their Strongsville Middle School experience. It’s a chance to recognize their achievements and relive memories together as one 8th-grade class.
Date: Thursday May 28th, 2026
Time: doors 9:30 AM, start 10:00 AM
Location: Strongsville Middle School Gymnasium
Entry: Please enter through the side doors between the school and the field.
Tickets: Tickets will be limited to two guests per student. Free event.
Intro Videos: This year we are video recording the students and compiling a video with them saying their name and personalizing the message with a school appropriate prop of their choosing from their middle school experience (ex. instrument, microphone, lacrosse stick, sport ball or helmet, book or project material, art supplies, etc.). We will provide some of these more popular items to make the process easier. Instruments and specific items will need to be arranged beforehand. This will be done by pod. Look for information via email from your students' pod leader. A make up recording day will be added as well. If you do not want your student to participate in the recording which will be played at the 8th grade promotion ceremony please fill out the opt-out form which will be sent from your pod leader, or let them know you do not want your student to participate.
*The Crusaders and Pirates pod have been recorded. However, this doesn't necessarily mean they will be in that order lineup during the event.
*SOLO students will have the option to be recorded for their video.
After the program: Students are permitted to leave school following the event, provided advance notice has been given. Check your pod leader's email for the instructions on how to sign out your student. Thank you!
Is this a graduation?
- No. This is NOT a graduation. Students will NOT be announced individually, walk across the stage nor receive a certificate of completion.
Do I, as a parent, need to attend?
- No, but you can if you would like to.

Will I receive an actual ticket?
- No.
- Everyone will check in by STUDENTS last name.
o Check-in tables will be arranged according to students' last names in a location between the school and field.
Can I get more than 2 tickets?
- Everyone will be able to register for 2 tickets.
- There are a limited amount of additional seats avaible for those who need them. The link is posted to this website above.
Why am I only allowed to send in 5 pictures?
- We want to include everyone and also want to keep our celebration to two hours.
Will I need to send in a baby photo?
- The 8th grade promotion will NOT have a baby photo slideshow. Some Pods requested them for a different purpose, but they're not needed for 8th grade promotion.
