A strange topic to choose, but the diversity it holds is unbeknownst to many. The feeling of being “lonely” can come in many forms. What I wished to focus on and have as an open topic was how different people interpret loneliness and how they individually experience it. To show this in my photography, I chose figures and subjects to seem different or give a story to the viewer a way of interpretation. The solitary chair in the woods shows the peaceful side of ‘lonely’, with sun shining brightly and green foliage surrounding it. Though, with the chair’s dark color, the viewer can also depict it as a continued sad feeling despite the surrounding peace and beauty, representing a peaceful and beautiful life. The chess set with one piece in the center can represent how a person may feel lonely while facing the odds, even with those like them backing them up.
