Stefany Moreno-Gámez

Each of us is a moving ecosystem. Our bodies are home to trillions of bacterial cells that have a major influence on our health. I'm interested in understanding the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of human bacterial communities and how these dynamics affect and are shaped by the human host. My long-term goal is to develop novel therapeutics based on the solutions that we as humans have developed over evolution to control our microbial tenants

I'm currently a James S. McDonnell postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Otto Cordero at MIT where I'm studying the ecology and evolution of glycan degradation in the gut with a special focus on dietary fiber and breast milk oligosaccharides.
