Panera bread is an easy option for when you are absolutely craving a smoothie! Panera has over 2,000 locations in just the US and Canada! 28 of these locations are spread throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts! This means that there will always be a Panera smoothie waiting for you just a short drive away, no matter where you are. Luckily for South Kingstown, there is a location right off Tower Hill Road in the Wakefield Mall. This is a short walk from South Kingstown High School and about a 10 minute drive from the University of Rhode Island. You will always see the many faces of high school and college students studying while enjoying their meals. There are two entrances into the store, one from inside the mall and one from the outside. This is convenient for shoppers to pop in and grab their delicious smoothie!
Panera has a very cozy, happy atmosphere. The entire store is decorated in warm yellows and oranges to create a calm and homey environment. There is plenty of seating everywhere, so whether you come to sit down and get your work done alone, or are in a large group of friends, there is always a spot for you! There is calming background music playing softly from the speakers that can be fun to listen to, but it is not distracting. This place definitely is buzzing right around 2:30 when all the high schoolers get out of school. Many people go for a quick snack or drink, especially before games, practices and clubs start. If you like this energetic buzz, this would be the perfect time to go. However, if you like when it is quieter and there are less people, you should venture out in the morning hours around 8-11. This is a quieter, less busy time as it is right in between the morning and lunch time rush. Panera is open from 7am-9pm , so you are always able to run in and get a smoothie.
The smoothie that we tried was absolutely delicious! Ella and I both tried the Strawberry banana smoothie and loved it. There was only one size option which was a 16 oz drink, but we both found it to be pretty filling. These smoothies are made with fruit juice puree, whole fruit, ice and yogurt. The smoothie was sweet and had quite a bit of sugar. This is in part due to the fruit puree, as well as the natural sugars from the fruit itself. Panera had a variety of other different flavors including super fruit, green passion, carrot pineapple, mango, and strawberry. Ella and I both enjoyed that our smoothies had a nice consistency as well. They were not incredibly thick like milkshakes, but also were not too thin either. Panera has mastered the perfect in between that is sure to spark all smoothie lover’s interest. Another amazing aspect of these smoothies is that they were not too bland or too sweet. Sometimes smoothies can come out bland, especially if an excess amount of dairy is added. However, these were on the sweeter side and are the perfect fruity snack!
The smoothies that we purchased at Panera were the most inexpensive of all the places we visited. The smoothies were 4.99 plus tax and came in a 16 oz cup. This is a great price for younger high school and college students who are looking for an inexpensive treat. The employees that we ordered from were very kind and looked happy to work there. They even helped to tweak the drinks to make a dairy-free option. The smoothies came out very fast, and we were able to pick them up from the counter within minutes. You have the option to stay in the store to enjoy your smoothie, or you can take it to go. This option gives people a lot of freedom and lets you enjoy a smoothie anywhere! It is especially perfect for times when you are running late but just have to get that smoothie before you go to work, school or anywhere else. Panera also has an app where you can order and pay right from your phone and then run inside to pick up your order! In addition to the smoothies, Panera has a wide menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner foods. There are plenty of options for you to grab either a meal, quick snack, or a pastry to accompany your smoothie.
Panera Bread is a staple fast food restaurant that many people know and love. Ella and I decided to try the smoothies here because it is an affordable option, and these cafes can be found not only in Rhode Island but also around the United States. This is convenient to know because you can rest assured that your favorite snack will always be available even when you are far from home.
