Anyway, let’s get on to the recipes that I have for you here today. I picked out a few recipes that I have tweaked and customized. In my opinion, these all taste great and are also really easy to make. All of the recipes only require a handful of ingredients, most of which you may already have lying around in your kitchen. The only other thing you will need is a good blender. So, if you’re all set, let’s go ahead and take a look at some smoothie recipes! Hope you enjoy them!
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Of course I had to start with one of the classics - strawberry banana. This version is great because it contains milk AND Greek yogurt, which I think gives it a thicker texture.
INGREDIENTS:
1 frozen banana (sliced and peeled)
2 cups strawberries (frozen)
1 cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp. honey
½ cup crushed ice (optional)
Green Smoothie (version 1)
This is “Green Smoothie Version 1.” Because green smoothies allow a lot of flexibility, there are a ton of different ways to make them. I’ve included 2 different green smoothie recipes in this list. This one is pretty unique because it contains pineapple and avocado. The avocado gives it a thick, rich texture.
INGREDIENTS:
1.5 cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
2 cup spinach
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 sliced banana (frozen and peeled)
¼ avocado
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ cup crushed ice (optional)
Green Smoothie (version 2)
This is “Green Smoothie Version 2.” This one still uses spinach, but you will notice a few of the other ingredients have been changed. With smoothies, even changing one or two ingredients can drastically change the taste, texture, etc. This one has no pineapple or avocado, but adds some chia/flax seeds.
INGREDIENTS:
1.5 cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
1.5 cup spinach
1 sliced banana (frozen and peeled)
1 tsp. honey
½ tbsp. ground chia/flax seed
½ cup crushed ice (optional)
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
This is another classic smoothie flavor. It’s pretty straightforward, with banana and peanut butter being the obvious main ingredients. But the dashes of vanilla and cinnamon make it just a little bit sweeter. You can get this one to the point where it basically tastes like a milkshake!
INGREDIENTS:
1.5 cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
1 sliced banana (frozen and peeled)
3 tbsp. natural peanut butter
1 tsp. honey
¼ tsp. vanilla extract
¼ tsp. cinnamon
½ cup ice (optional)
Blueberry Banana Smoothie
This one is a slight variation on the classic strawberry banana smoothie. If you are someone who prefers blueberries to strawberries, this might be just what you’re looking for. Only requires a few ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:
1 frozen banana (peeled and sliced)
1.5 cup frozen blueberries
1 tbsp. flax meal
1.5 cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. honey
½ cup crushed ice (optional)
Apple Smoothie
This apple smoothie is a great Fall drink. It incorporates the taste of apple pie, but is still super healthy. You can use whatever type of apple you’d like for this. I’ve used different types and they all work just fine. You will also find that you don’t need as much milk with this one because of the apple. But if you do need to thin down the consistency, add 1 or 2 tbsp. of milk at a time.
INGREDIENTS:
½ frozen banana (peeled and sliced)
1 apple (sliced)
1 tbsp. natural peanut butter
¼ cup milk (preferably unsweetened almond milk)
½ tsp. Vanilla extract
1 tbsp. ground flax seed
¼ tsp. cinnamon
½ cup crushed ice
And there you have it. 6 smoothie recipes for you to try out! We all have different preferences when it comes to smoothies, so you may need to adjust some of these recipes to your liking. This could mean making simple changes like using kale instead of spinach, or using almond butter instead of peanut butter. These recipes are simply a starting point, and you can always add your own creative touch to them. Hope you enjoyed it!
And just one last reminder before you go. Seriously, anyone who loves smoothies and is looking to lose weight in a healthy way, you really should at least check out The Smoothie Diet.
