What is the SMMS PTO?
A PTO is a 'Parent Teacher Organization’.
The SMMS PTO is a non-profit organization made up of parents who volunteer their time, services, or provide monetary donations enhance the learning environment for students and teachers. All monetary donations are tax deductible with the majority of funding spent in the same school year. The SMMS PTO works with administrators to support initiatives across the whole school.
Does it cost money to join the SMMS PTO?
There is no fee to join! In fact, as parents/legal guardians of Crusaders, you are already a member!
When and where are the SMMS PTO meetings?
Our PTO Meeting are held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm (Room 12, inside the library)
Why do we need the SMMS PTO?
The SMMS PTO raises money to support programs that are no longer supported by the state. We provide extra opportunities our students and teachers need to continue enjoying the outstanding learning environment here at SMMS.
I don't have much time to volunteer? Are there other ways I can support the SMMS PTO?
We understand that some schedules do not allow for much time to volunteer. If you can not volunteer for fundraisers or events, we appreciate any donations that you can make.
What are the volunteer opportunities with The SMMS PTO?
The SMMS PTO is always looking for volunteers! There are a variety of committees that help run different events or areas. You can fill out a volunteer form and we will contact you about different volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers for one-time activities per year must submit an online application, which includes:
Megan’s Law clearance check
Review and acknowledgment of the Volunteer Handbook
Uploading a copy of a government-issued ID to the application
All volunteers at this level will need to check in and out using the Identi-kid system and must wear a visible sticker badge while on campus.
Please note that any volunteer who wishes to volunteer for a second event or activity will be required to complete the Level A or Level B application, depending on the duration of your volunteer service.
