MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Three candidates are vying to represent the 59th District in the West Virginia House of Delegates when voters cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 general election.
Communications specialist Robert E. Smith, Morgan County Commissioner Ken Reed and Hedgesville, W.Va., business owner Patricia “Patch” Adams will be facing off.
Reed is a Republican. Adams is not affiliated with any political party, and Smith, also of the Hedgesville area, is the Mountain Party’s nominee.
The 59th District includes portions of southern and eastern Morgan County, along with northern and western Berkeley County, including the Hedgesville area, Cherry Run, Jones Spring and The Woods.
House members serve two-year terms and receive a base pay of $20,000 annually.
The state deadline to register to vote is Oct. 13, and early voting will be held Oct. 21-31.
The Herald-Mail posed questions in writing to the three candidates. Adams did not respond by the deadline.
