Curriculum Map

The curriculum was designed to cover and follow the NC Standards of American History. The curriculum map takes us through the country's history, starting a little before the colonial period to give a greater context. With the ending being President Obama's elect. The curriculum was made to cover a 90 day semester with 16 days built in for review, exam time, and flex days.

Civil Rights Unit Map

The Civil Rights Movement unit map was designed to take students through the entire movement. Starting the earlier events leading into the movement's genesis, and ending with a retrospective on how it is still relevant today.

Lesson Plan 1

Lesson Plan 1 is a one day plan focuses on events leading to the Civil Rights Movement focusing on Jim Crow Laws, and how they were used.

Lesson Plan 2 Civil Rights Court Cases

Lesson Plan 2

Lesson Plan 2 is a 2 day plan that focuses on civil rights court cases throughout the movement and after. The first half highlights the importance of the cases, and how they affected civil rights. The second half allows the students to work together and make their own classroom laws, to show the legislation process.

Lesson Plan 3 is a two day lesson planning, focusing on the end of the movement, and how it is still affecting the country today.

The assessment samples include different types of assessment questions and types focused, on what was taught, in the classroom for the Civil Rights Movement Unit.
