Wedgewood & Company/Enoch Wedgwood
Enoch Wedgewood founded a pottery in the Staffordshire district of England in 1860. Enoch Wedgwood was a distant cousin of the famous potter Josiah Wedgwood, but their two businesses were separate concerns. Until 1980 when Josiah took over Enoch's company and renamed it Unicorn Pottery. Enoch's pottery made many of the vintage Avon keepsake dishes and developed a unique pattern of ironstone dinnerware, the Staffordshire Liberty Blue, for a savings and loan company.
This plate is an example of the fine porcelain dinnerware made in Luxemburg by Villeroy & Bock, the world's largest producer of ceramics. This company is exceptional in many ways. It has been family owned and operated for almost 255 years! The 8th generation of the founders are still actively creating extraordinary tableware designs. Their designs are delicate, beautiful and unique.
