NOW Offering Dog Care While You Are Away! 🐶
It all started in March of 2020 when schools all over America closed due to COVID-19. Months later, Elliott, a middle school student, had spent all of his allowance on online computer programing classes and applications. However, he still needed more instructional classes and programs to continue learning about this vast field of programming. But, program applications and classes are expensive and he needed money. Elliott has always loved helping other people and creating innovative solutions to everyday problems. This combined with his love of plants and animals and his skill at doing household chores, gave him a great idea! He would start a house, pet, and plant-sitting business in his neighborhood! He enlisted the help of his mom and started making fliers right away!
Now, Emily, a high schooler, was feeling sick of being stuck at home and not being able to volunteer in her community. In the past, she had helped out at soup kitchens and provided in-person art classes to seniors in retirement homes. And this year, she had planned to express her love of animals by working at an animal shelter. Now, she couldn't do any of that! She also missed going to the library and borrowing books, now having to purchase every book she wanted to read because e-books gave her a big headache! When she heard Elliott had started Smiley Services, she jumped for joy! This was just what she needed, a way to help out her community while raising money for buying the books she desperately wanted to read! And she could foster her love of animals and in-home gardening at the same time! She even has a vegetable garden at home!
Elliott and Emily love to work together and serve their community while meeting neighbors and learning life-skills about starting and running a business!
Thank you for supporting our neighborly entrepreneurial venture and our learning!
