WHAT IS JOINT CADET LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE?
A joint cadet leadership conference is an event where top cadets and promising leaders from different units come to our school for leadership discussion along with providing leadership training. This conference brings cadets to participate in a variety of challenges, and team-building exercises, as well as come together as a group to interact with one another. The goal of JCLC is to encourage cadet's leadership skills, build their confidence, and prepare them for leadership roles both with their units and in other contexts.
ACTIVITIES
For this activity, you will be given a fresh pair of new uniform shoes and a certain amount of time to shine the shoes. You will also be given a cloth, cotton balls, and shoe polish to use to shine the shoes. The person with the most shiny shoe will be given the first-place award.
One (1) cadet will represent each participating unit. The cadet will shoot one 10-meter target in the standing position. The maximum time to shoot all 10 bullseyes is 10 minutes. All shooters will use the Daisy pump action air rifles supplied by SMHS. Targets will be scored using the Orion scoring system. Awards go to 1st-3rd place competitors.
SMHS will provide each participating unit a question bank of general JROTC/CAP/Sea Cadet questions. A team consists of two (2) cadets from each unit. 1st-3rd place awards go to the top teams based on each pair’s combined scores.
One (1) male AND one (1) female from each participating unit will execute sit-ups and push-ups for 1-minute. 1st-3rd place awards will go to the top individual males and females for sit-ups/push-ups. The top pair (combined male/female push-up/sit-up count) will earn an overall 1st Place team award.
AERIAL DRONE
Each drone team will consist of 2 pilots. The flight deck landing challenge will be timed: 60 seconds maximum for pilot one and 90 seconds maximum for pilot two. Pilot one will take off, fly to a “big deck carrier” and land on one of the landing spots. Each spot consists of concentric circles with assigned point values. Wherever the drone first touches down is the spot that is graded.
The drone will go full stop after landing or after 60 seconds, whichever comes first. Pilot two will then take the controls. Time does not run during the transition and timing starts at lift-off. The second pilot will then take off from the “carrier” and fly to a “small boy” flight deck and land. The same rules apply for pilot two scoring. Combined landing values determine the scores. The tiebreaker goes to the combined fastest times.
