Privacy Policy for Smart TV Remote
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Smart TV Remote ("the app", "we", "us") does not collect, sell or share your personal data. The app works on your phone and your local Wi-Fi network, and we do not run any servers that receive your information. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. INFORMATION THE APP HANDLES
The app only handles what it needs to control, mirror and cast to your TV, and keeps it on your device.
• TVs on your network: The app searches your local Wi-Fi network (SSDP, mDNS and DLNA) for compatible TVs. It reads a TV's name, model, brand and local IP address so you can connect to it.
• Saved remotes and pairing keys: When you pair with a TV, the TV may issue a pairing key or token (for example Samsung, LG, Android TV/Google TV or Fire TV). The app saves it on your device with the TV's name and IP address, so you don't have to pair again.
• Photos, videos and audio you choose: When you cast media, you pick files using the Android system picker. The app can only access the files you select. They are streamed directly from your phone to your TV over your local network and are never uploaded to us.
• Recent casts: A short list of recently cast items is kept on your device so you can cast them again.
• Your screen (screen mirroring / screen cast): Only when you start it and accept Android's screen-capture prompt, your screen is streamed live to your TV or to a browser on your local network. Nothing is recorded or saved, and a notification remains visible until you stop sharing.
• Text and voice input: Text you type with the remote keyboard is sent only to your TV. Voice search uses your phone's built-in Android speech recognition service (usually provided by Google). The recognized text is sent only to your TV.
• Settings: Your language, theme and haptic feedback preferences are stored on your device.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, advertising ID or account information. The app has no sign-in and contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
2. PERMISSIONS
• Internet, Network State, Wi-Fi State: to find and communicate with TVs on your local Wi-Fi network.
• Wi-Fi Multicast, Local Network Access: to discover TVs automatically on your network.
• Infrared (IR) Transmitter: to send remote control signals using your phone's IR blaster.
• Vibrate: for haptic feedback when you press buttons.
• Foreground Service (Media Projection), Wake Lock: to keep screen mirroring or screen cast running while you use other apps.
• Notifications: to show that your screen is being shared, with a one-tap Stop button.
The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
3. HOW THE INFORMATION IS USED
The information above is used only to:
• Find, connect and pair with your TV, and reconnect later
• Send remote commands, text and voice search queries to your TV
• Mirror your screen and cast your chosen photos, videos and audio to your TV
• Remember your saved remotes, recent casts and settings
All communication with your TV happens directly over your local network. During web mirroring, the app runs a temporary local web server that only devices on your Wi-Fi can reach. It stops when you stop mirroring.
4. SHARING AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone. Some services outside the app may handle information under their own privacy policies:
• Your TV: Commands, text, and the media or screen you choose to share are sent to the TV you connect to. Your TV manufacturer's privacy policy applies.
• Google Play: The app is distributed through Google Play, which may collect information as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
• Android speech recognition: If you use voice search, your device's speech service processes your voice under its provider's privacy policy.
• Email: If you contact us, send a suggestion or request a brand, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply to you.
5. DATA STORAGE, SECURITY AND YOUR CHOICES
Everything the app saves stays on your device until you delete it.
• Delete a saved remote: remove it from "My remotes" on the home screen. This also removes its pairing key.
• Delete all data: go to Android Settings > Apps > Smart TV Remote > Storage > Clear storage, or uninstall the app.
• Stop sharing: tap Stop in the app or in the notification to end screen mirroring or casting immediately.
• Permissions: you can turn off permissions in Android Settings. Some features may stop working without them.
Connections to TVs that support encryption (such as Android TV/Google TV, Samsung and LG) use TLS. Local network traffic may be visible to others on the same Wi-Fi network, so please use the app on a network you trust. Because we do not store any data on servers, there is no data for us to delete or export on request.
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
