Messenger SMS & Messages
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 8, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
Welcome to Messenger SMS & Messages (the “App”), developed by Siversky Donets (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it on Android devices. The App is a messenger SMS application that lets you view, send, receive, schedule, search, and manage messages, use quick replies, and handle your inbox.
The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information. Message data, contacts, and related operations are processed and stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your SMS, MMS, or contact content.
This Privacy Policy applies to the App and is designed to meet the requirements of the Google Play Developer Program Policies (including User Data and Data Safety), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any type of user personal data such as your SMS or MMS message content, contact names, phone numbers from your address book, or conversation history on our own servers.
All messaging data, inbox content, scheduled messages, quick replies, and search indexes are stored and processed only on your device.
Any data recovery or local database operations (using AndroidX Room) happen entirely on your device and never leave it through our application.
We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information.
Limited technical and device information may be processed by third-party services integrated in the App (see Sections 6 and 7). These may include:
Device identifiers (such as Advertising ID)
Approximate location or network information (for ad delivery and analytics)
Crash and performance data
App usage events (feature usage, session information)
Purchase/subscription status (handled by Google Play)
We do not sell your personal information. Message content and contacts remain under your control on your device.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
Consent – for advertising, analytics, and certain optional features (you can withdraw consent at any time via device settings or in-app controls where available).
Legitimate interests – to maintain App stability, diagnose crashes, improve features, and deliver relevant ads in a privacy-respecting way.
Performance of a contract – to provide the core messaging functionality you request.
Legal obligations – when we must comply with applicable laws.
You may withdraw consent or object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting us or adjusting device permissions and advertising preferences.
4. Permissions We Use in Our App and Why
The App is designed to operate as your default SMS/message handler where the Android system allows it. Below is a clear explanation of each permission and why it is needed. You can review and revoke these permissions at any time in your device Settings > Apps > Messenger SMS & Messages > Permissions.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Lets the App check whether an internet connection is available and what type of network (Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc.) is active. This is used so the App can decide when to fetch updates, show network-related status, or enable features that need connectivity.
android.permission.INTERNET
Allows the App to connect to the internet for supported features such as push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), in-app updates (Google Play In-App Update), analytics, crash reporting, and advertisement loading.
android.permission.READ_SMS
Required for the App to function as a messaging application. It lets the App read SMS messages stored on the device so it can display your conversations, search messages, and manage your inbox. Message content stays on your device.
android.permission.SEND_SMS
Allows the App to send SMS messages on your behalf when you choose to send a message or use scheduled/quick-reply features.
android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS
Enables the App to receive incoming SMS messages in real time and present them in your inbox and notifications.
android.permission.RECEIVE_MMS
Allows the App to receive multimedia messages (MMS) so pictures, videos, and other media can be shown in conversations.
android.permission.RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH
Needed to receive certain carrier or system WAP Push messages that are part of the standard messaging stack on some devices.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK
Temporarily keeps the device awake when necessary to process incoming messages, deliver notifications, or complete background messaging tasks reliably.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE
Used for telephony-related SMS behavior (for example, determining the correct SIM or device state) so messaging works correctly across dual-SIM and different Android versions.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Required on Android 13 and later to show notifications for new messages and other App events. You can control notification settings at any time.
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS
Lets the App display contact names and photos next to phone numbers in conversations. Contact data is read only for display purposes and is never uploaded by us.
android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM
Used only when you schedule a message for a precise future time so the message can be sent at the exact moment you chose.
Granting these permissions is necessary for the core messaging experience. You remain in full control and can revoke them; some features may stop working if critical permissions are denied.
5. Data Storage and Security
All SMS, MMS, contacts, conversation data, scheduled messages, and quick replies are stored locally on your device using AndroidX Room (a local SQLite database).
We do not transmit your message content or contact information to our servers.
Local storage is protected by the standard Android security model (app sandboxing).
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures consistent with industry practice for an Android application.
No system is completely immune to risk. You should keep your device updated, use a screen lock, and be careful with untrusted apps.
Because data stays on your device, uninstalling the App removes the App’s local database and associated data from the device.
6. Third-Party Libraries & SDKs Used in Our App
The App uses the following third-party libraries and SDKs. Each serves a specific technical purpose. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Core Android & UI libraries
AndroidX Core KTX, AppCompat, Material Components, ConstraintLayout – provide modern Android APIs, backward-compatible UI components, Material Design elements, and flexible layouts.
AndroidX Lifecycle (LiveData KTX, ViewModel KTX, Process) – manage UI data and app lifecycle safely.
Kotlin Coroutines Core / Android – handle asynchronous operations (database, SMS, UI) efficiently.
AndroidX Room + KSP + Room Compiler – local database for storing messages and related data on-device.
SDP / SSP – scalable dimensions and text sizes for consistent UI across screen sizes.
Glide – efficient loading and caching of contact images and other pictures.
Gson – JSON parsing for internal App data structures.
RxJava – reactive streams for asynchronous work.
Lottie – lightweight animations in the user interface.
Google services
Google Play In-App Update – allows seamless updates from the Play Store.
Policy: Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy
Firebase Cloud Messaging – delivers push notifications for messages and App events.
Policy: Firebase Privacy and Security
Firebase Analytics – collects anonymized usage and engagement data to understand which features are used and improve the App.
Policy: Firebase Privacy and Security
Firebase Crashlytics – collects crash reports and stability data so we can fix bugs.
Policy: Firebase Privacy and Security
Advertising
Google AdMob / AdX – displays advertisements.
Policies: Google Advertising Policies and Google Privacy Policy
Meta (Facebook) Audience Network – additional advertising network.
Policy: Meta Privacy Policy
These SDKs may collect limited technical data (device identifiers, Advertising ID, approximate location, crash logs, usage events) according to their own privacy policies. We do not control how they process data beyond the configuration we set. Message content and contacts are never shared with these services by us.
7. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies
Advertising
The App shows ads through Google AdMob, AdX, and Meta (Facebook) Audience Network. These services may use advertising identifiers, device information, and interest-based data to show relevant ads. You can reset your Advertising ID or limit ad tracking in your device settings (Google Settings > Ads, or Android Settings > Privacy).
Analytics
Firebase Analytics helps us understand how the App is used (for example, which screens are opened) so we can improve features. Data is aggregated and does not include your message content.
Crash reporting
Firebase Crashlytics collects technical crash information to help us fix stability issues.
You can opt out of personalized advertising and limit analytics through your device settings and, where available, in-app controls.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The App itself does not use traditional web cookies. Third-party advertising and analytics SDKs may use similar technologies (Advertising ID, local storage, identifiers) for their purposes. These are governed by the respective third-party privacy policies linked above.

We do not sell personal information. Message and contact data never leave your device through our application.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Local message and contact data remain on your device until you delete individual conversations, clear App data, or uninstall the App.
Third-party services (Firebase, ad networks) retain data according to their own retention policies.
Uninstalling the App removes all App-associated local data from your device.
You may request deletion of any data we may hold by contacting us at the email below; because we do not store personal messaging data on our servers, most requests will confirm that no such data exists on our side.
11. Payment Terms and In-App Purchases
The App offers in-app purchases and paid subscriptions.
All payments and subscriptions are handled safely by Google Play Billing. We do not collect, store, or see your payment details such as card information or Google account passwords.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them before the next billing date. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your Google Play account settings. If you cancel, you will continue to enjoy premium features until the current billing period ends.
Purchase Information
Google may share limited, non-personal purchase details with us, such as subscription status or validity, so we can unlock premium features.
Refunds & Cancellations
All refund requests must be made through Google Play, following Google Play’s refund rules.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not share your purchase or subscription information with any third parties, except when required by Google for payment verification.
Policies
All in-app purchases and subscriptions follow the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
12. User Rights Under GDPR
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you have the right to:
Access the personal data we process about you
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase data (“right to be forgotten”)
Restrict or object to processing
Data portability
Withdraw consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
Because most data stays on your device, the primary way to exercise these rights for message and contact data is through your device settings or by uninstalling the App. For any other requests, contact us using the details in Section 21.
13. User Rights Under CCPA/CPRA
If you are a California resident you have the right to:
Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
Delete personal information
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
Non-discrimination for exercising your rights
Correct inaccurate personal information
Limit use of sensitive personal information
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will verify and respond as required by law.
14. “Do Not Track” (CalOPPA)
Some browsers and devices offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. The App does not currently respond to DNT signals because there is no consistent industry standard. You can control tracking through your device Advertising ID settings and by limiting ad personalization.
15. International Data Transfers
Third-party services such as Google Firebase, AdMob, and Meta may process data in the United States or other countries. These providers use appropriate safeguards (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses) where required. By using the App you acknowledge that such transfers may occur under the respective third-party privacy policies.
16. Protection from Malware and Network Misuse
The App does not contain malware, spyware, or any code intended to harm your device or network. We follow Google Play security requirements. We do not use the permissions granted to engage in network misuse, unauthorized data collection, or any activity that violates Google Play policies.
17. Links to Other Websites and Apps
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, Google Play or privacy policy pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies when you leave the App.
18. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
19. Compliance with Legal Obligations and Law Enforcement
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, ourselves, or others. Because we do not store message content on our servers, the practical scope of such disclosures is limited.
20. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
