Privacy Policy — Smart Bag AI

Smart Bag AI ("we", "our", "the app") is developed by Guilherme Dias Martins ("Alma em Código"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using Smart Bag AI, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Smart Bag AI is a golf bag fitting and analysis app. The data controller is Guilherme Dias Martins. For any privacy question, contact us at guilhermediasmartins@icloud.com.
2. Data we collect
Account and identity
Email address and display name, when you sign in with email, Google, or Apple.
A unique account identifier (Firebase Authentication user ID).
Golf profile and fitting data (that you provide)
Age, height, dominant hand, handicap, swing speed, ball flight, goals, and similar fitting details you choose to enter.
Your content
The clubs and balls in your bag, their specifications, and any notes.
Photos you add (from your camera or photo library) for clubs or your profile.
Posts or content you create in community features (if used).
AI assistant data
When you use the AI assistant, the data you provide for that purpose — the messages you type, the contents of your golf bag, and your golf profile and fitting data — is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the analysis and recommendations. We do not send your email address, name, or account identifier to the AI service. We ask for your explicit, informed consent within the app before any of this data is sent to the AI service for the first time, and you can decline.
Usage and diagnostics
App usage events (Firebase Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics), to improve stability and the product.
A push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), if you enable notifications.
We do not collect precise location, and we do not sell your personal data.
3. How we use your data
To provide the core features: storing your bag, computing analyses, and generating AI recommendations.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To improve the app (diagnostics, crash fixing, understanding usage).
To send notifications you have opted into.
Your bag and profile data are sent to the AI service only when you use the AI assistant, and only after you have given consent within the app.
4. Legal bases (where applicable, e.g. GDPR/LGPD)
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), based on your consent (e.g. optional profile data, notifications, and sharing data with the AI service), and for our legitimate interests (security, improving the product).
5. Third-party services and AI processing
We rely on trusted providers that process data on our behalf. Each is contractually required to protect your data and to provide safeguards equivalent to those described in this policy:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) — stores your account, content, and diagnostic data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Gemini API — when you use the AI assistant, it receives the messages you send, your bag contents, and your golf profile in order to generate AI analysis and recommendations. It does not receive your email address, name, or account identifier. Data is shared with this service only after you have given explicit consent within the app. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's privacy terms for the Gemini API.
Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — used only to authenticate you.
We share only the minimum data necessary for each feature to function. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
6. Data storage and retention
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers. We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your data at any time (see below), after which it is removed from our active systems, subject to limited backups and legal requirements.
7. Your rights
Depending on your region (including under the EU GDPR and Brazil's LGPD), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact guilhermediasmartins@icloud.com, or use the in-app account deletion option where available.
8. Account and data deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing guilhermediasmartins@icloud.com or through the app's account settings. We will process deletion requests in accordance with applicable law.
9. Children's privacy
Smart Bag AI is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures (including Firebase App Check and encrypted connections) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
