Smart Screen & Area Capture Studio ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how your information is handled when using our Chrome extension.
The Extension is designed with a privacy-first, client-side architecture:
We do not collect, store, transmit, or monetize your personal data.
We do not run external analytics, tracking scripts, tracking pixels, or remote telemetry.
All screen captures, image manipulation, annotations, pixel blurring, text extraction, and file conversions occur locally on your device within the browser sandbox.
The Extension requests specific browser permissions solely to deliver essential functionality. Below is how each permission operates:
Permission: activeTab
Purpose & Technical Scope: Used to capture pixel snapshots of your active browser tab when you click a capture option or press a shortcut (Alt + S / Alt + A).
Network Transmission: None. Processed strictly in local browser memory.
Permission: scripting
Purpose & Technical Scope: Used to inject the interactive area-selection overlay (content.js) onto the active page and perform viewport scrolling for full-page captures.
Network Transmission: None. Scripts run strictly within the active DOM.
Permission: downloads
Purpose & Technical Scope: Used to initiate local file downloads (PNG, WebP, or PDF) to your device when you click an export button.
Network Transmission: None. Files are generated locally and written directly to your disk.
Permission: clipboardWrite
Purpose & Technical Scope: Used to copy raw image data or extracted page text directly to your system clipboard upon your explicit action.
Network Transmission: None. Operates only between the browser canvas and your OS clipboard.
Permission: storage
Purpose & Technical Scope: Used via chrome.storage.local to temporarily pass image slices between popup, background worker, and editor tabs, and save badge step counters.
Network Transmission: None. Data never leaves your local browser profile.
The Extension does not send data to any remote servers, cloud databases, or third-party APIs.
WhatsApp Sharing: When clicking "WhatsApp", the image is written to your local clipboard, and the official WhatsApp client (whatsapp:// or web.whatsapp.com) is opened in your browser. No image data is transmitted through our servers.
Temporary capture data held in chrome.storage.local is overwritten on subsequent captures or wiped when you close or reset the editor tab.
You can instantly clear all stored data at any time by clearing your browser cache or uninstalling the Extension.
The Extension does not collect personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements or extension features. Any updates will be posted to this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
