After selecting a photo in the app, you can rotate or crop it and adjust the saturation, contrast, and brightness. The Canon printing app gives you more control through color adjustments than the Fujifilm apps do, including the ability to change the color and size of the border and to apply a timestamp. If you want to print more than one photo, the app provides you with a few options including a Bookmark Layout (prints images in a skinny row along one side of the photo paper so you can cut it in half and use it as a bookmark), Shuffle Layout (prints a collection of images in a mosaic), and ID Photo (great for printing headshots for official documents such as passports). One nice bonus: The ID Photo option comes preloaded with the most common photo sizes, including passport dimensions, and offers guides to help you make sure the image is in the right place. Most of these options are also available within the printer if you choose to print off an SD card.

The HP Sprocket Studio Plus is a nicely designed printer - the paper tray detaches from the main body of the printer and sits nicely on top, held in place by a small magnet when the printer is not in use. The image quality is a little more saturated and contrasty than our also-great pick. Images of art or flowers look good, but the extra saturation is unflattering for skin tones, and the added contrast results in some noticeable sharpening in detailed areas like tree foliage or buildings, which made our test images look crunchy. Lastly, print refills are more expensive for fewer exposures.

The Nikon Small World Competition first began in 1975 as a means to recognize and applaud the efforts of those involved with photography through the light microscope. Since then, Small World has become a leading showcase for photomicrographers from the widest array of scientific disciplines.

In 2011, Nikon announced that it would begin accepting movies taken through the microscope as a new category in the 37th annual Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition. This new category, titled Small World in Motion, encompasses any movie or digital time-lapse photography taken through the microscope and adds a new, distinct discipline to the competition.

Many of us would walk right by a slime mold-covered log or glance only briefly at a pair of dead salamanders, without giving them a second thought. But for a select few photographers with a keen eye for detail, these small, seemingly insignificant scenes are a window into a deeper understanding of the Earth and its impressive biodiversity.

This year, the competition drew more than 9,000 submissions from 54 countries in 11 categories: animals, insects, plants, fungi, intimate landscape, underwater, butterflies and insects, invertebrate portrait, manmade, micro (for photos captured with a microscope) and young close-up photographer of the year (for photographers aged 17 or younger).

After two days of freezing fog and below-zero temperatures, British gardener and photographer Barry Webb stumbled upon some mature Comatricha slime mold growing from a pile of rotting wood. For his efforts, he won first place in the fungi category.

Dutch process consultant and photographer Wim Vooijs spotted a male banded demoiselle damselfly, covered in morning dew drops, near his hometown of Ede, Netherlands. His sparkling image netted him top honors in the butterflies and dragonflies category.

TinyPNG uses smart lossy compression techniques to reduce the file size of your WEBP, JPEG and PNG files. By selectively decreasing the number of colors in the image, fewer bytes are required to store the data. The effect is nearly invisible but it makes a very large difference in file size!

Our compression engine employs a smart algorithm to determine the best optimization levels tailored to each image's unique content, considering factors like colors, textures, and patterns. Unlike one-size-fits-all approaches, we understand that each image requires specific compression settings for optimal results.

The painter and photographer Edward Steichen and other notable artists were instrumental in developing the program of exhibitions at 291, which first highlighted Photo Secessionist photographers and then went on to feature exhibitions by prominent European artists including Henri Matisse, Paul Czanne, and the Cubist works of Pablo Picasso that would influence artists across media around the world. But 291 also exhibited the work of emerging American artists whose paintings and photographs explored modernity (modern life as impacted by new industrial, social, and political developments) or Modernism (the radically different artistic sensibilities avant-garde artists thought best represented modern experiences).

The modern skyscrapers being built in New York appealed to Stieglitz, and he was known to roam the streets of the city looking to capture its essence in his photographs. The thriving metropolis also intrigued Strand, whose photographs of the city conveyed the new modernist aesthetic. New York attracted artists from Europe as well, including Francis Picabia, a French modernist who spearheaded the New York iteration of the Dada movement (artists associated with Dada responded to the horrors of WWI by creating works that featured chance, humor, and absurdity).

One of the activities at 291 that helped promote modern painting and photography was publishing. Stieglitz and his friend Steichen began publishing the journal Camera Work in 1903 and continued this project until 1917. During that time the journal featured illustrious art photographs and articles about photography as well as features on modern art from Europe.

Targeted toward teens and tweens, this portable photo printer is easy to use. Quick to print but colors in photos can be somewhat muted. function ga4_link125() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"default_event","link_location":"product-grid"}')) }Read More

Unlike a traditional function ga4_link138() { window.dataLayer.push(JSON.parse('{"event":"click_inarticle"}')) }printer, these instant photo printers are small enough to stuff in a coat pocket or purse, require little setup, and can print high-quality, physical copies of photos taken with your smartphone, anywhere you go. It's almost like carrying around an old-school instant camera with you, everywhere you go.

At 6.0 x 3.0 x 1.0 inches in size, the Hi-Print has roughly the same dimensions as a large-screened smartphone, albeit a bit thicker. Its glossy white finish is accented by a rainbow of colors that wrap around one end of the printer, making it easy to find in your bag or backpack.

This printer tended to tone down some of the brighter colors captured in our test photos. However, this can be sidestepped by tweaking the color saturation of an image before printing it. Ultimately, the Hi-Print is enjoyable to use in a way that makes up for a bit of color desaturation.

The Canon Ivy uses 2x3-inch Zink photo paper with a peelable backing, allowing users to turn their photos into stickers. During testing, the Bluetooth connectivity was reliable, enabling a smooth printing process. Many images I sent to Ivy finished printing within 50 seconds.

That said, the colors were slightly muted, looking less vibrant than they had on my smartphone. Many of the test prints took on a slight bluish hue, turning pinks into dull purples. Skin tones often suffered from this same issue.

As one of the smallest models we tested, the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link is perfect for on-the-go fun. The app lets you customize prints by applying filters and adding fun captions. You can also buy photo paper with designs already printed on it, to add even more character.

This was the only model where photos developed after being printed. I felt like our smartphone had been transformed into a classic Polaroid camera. It was a pleasure watching the photos the Instax produced slowly come to life. That said, impatient photographers might find this charming bit of nostalgia to be a dealbreaker.

But the resulting 2x3 photographs were the worst of any portable photo printer we tested. The images were very soft, lacking any crisp detail. We noticed subtle artifacts in areas of solid color. The colors were also muted compared to the other printers.

Their response was to send us a link to a YouTube video about connecting the printer to your smartphone. There was nothing resembling troubleshooting. Attempting to connect the Victure to an iPhone 12 Pro Max and an iPhone X yielded identical results.

My name is Mike Yawney. I have been reviewing tech products for over 15 years. Most of that time has been spent in front of the camera, talking tech and reviewing everything from smartphones to video games on one of Canada's most popular national morning television programs.

The devices we tested a variety of different printing techniques. Three of the printers used dye sublimation, which uses heat to transfer ink from film sheets to photo paper. This process takes time. Each sheet of photo paper passes through the printer four times to lay down each layer of color before the final print emerges.

None of the printers we tested offered exceptional battery life. Most could only print between 8 and 12 photos before needing a charge. If you want to print additional photos, you will need to carry a portable charger along. 17dc91bb1f
